2026 Banquet Speaker

 

 

 

 

Highlight of the reunion is our keynote banquet speaker, Dr. Zakiyah Renee Henry, who is a 2015 C.C. Spaulding Alumni Association Scholarship recipient. She is the daughter of Veronica Bryant and the late James Henry and granddaughter of Dolphus and Mary Bryant. Dr. Henry is a native of Nashville, NC, and is a product of Nash Rocky Mount School System. She is a graduate of Nash Central High School and Winston Salem State University where she majored in Biology with minors in Chemistry and Physics to receive her bachelor's degree. She excelled during her time at WSSU, so much that she was accepted into Princeton University to pursue a doctor’s degree in Molecular Biology. She elected to complete her doctoral studies at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey in Toxicology. She was recognized for excellence in her graduate studies nationally and internationally.

Presently she is employed at Research Triangle Park as a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Division of Translational Toxicology.
